The Air-King made its appearance in 1945 as part of an “Air” series by Rolex in the 1930s, the golden age for aviation. During this time, Rolex were accompanying some of the very first extreme flights, such as the Houston Expedition (the first flight over Mount Everest). Epitomizing Rolex’s ties with the aeronautical world, the Air-King pays tribute to the first pioneers of flight. This Air-King was manufactured in 2002 however still encompasses essential Rolex features such as a 100m water resistant Oyster case, screw down crown, and a chronometer certification.
This gentleman’s brushed stainless steel Rolex Air-King is fitted on a brushed stainless steel Oyster bracelet. The 34mm case houses a ‘Precision’ automatic chronometer movement, covered with classic sapphire crystal glass. The black dial features silver batons with luminous dots, encased by an engine turned bezel. Complete with original box and paperwork.
