Watch of the Week

Another classic timepiece sold from our Pre-Owned collection, The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King. Rolex's sleek Air-King range was released in 1945 amidst World War II, and is the only model still in production from the original Rolex “Air” range. During this golden age of aviation, the Air-King proved to be favoured by pilots on their first extreme flights, such as the intrepid Houston Expedition. The Air-King epitomises Rolex’s ties with the aeronautical world by paying tribute to these original pioneers of flight. This Air-King was manufactured in 1975 and is now a discontinued model, however it stays true to its heritage with features such as an Oyster case, screw down crown, and a chronometer certification.

This stylish gent’s Rolex Air-King is fitted on a brushed stainless steel Oyster bracelet, with a brushed stainless steel Oyster case. The understated 34mm case houses a ‘Precision’ automatic chronometer movement and features a traditional plexi-glass. The elegant silver dial also has silver batons, encased by a fixed polished bezel. This watch did not have its original box or papers but was fully restored and refurbished by Rolex in 2017 and is a very fine example of an Air King from the mid 1970’s.
