Watch Of The Week: OMEGA Speedmaster Mark II
The latest edition to our Pre-Owned Watch range is the Omega Speedmaster Mark II, one of Omegas earliest and most well-known models. The Speedmaster went on to be named Speedmaster Professional after rigorous testing by NASA and eventually they were dubbed the Moon Watch after successfully being worn by Buzz Aldrin and the crew of Apollo 13 on the moon’s surface. The Omega Speedmaster range heralds back to 1957 when Omega were official representatives for the Olympic Games, it was the Speedmaster’s sporty chronograph that was used as an official timekeeping tool.
This gent’s stainless steel Omega Speedmaster Mark II has a tachymeter scale around the edge of the dial underneath the glass which inspired the models name. The chronograph feature records seconds, minutes, hours, by three separate subdials. The 41mm case houses a manual wind mechanical calibre 861 movement. The round black dial includes clear luminous batons, and the watch is fitted on a stainless steel bracelet. This watch has been fully serviced and restored by Omega and comes with its original box and papers from 1973. A fine example of an iconic watch.
