The Speedmaster- the one and only watch to travel to the moon. On the 20th of July 1969 after eight years of great effort and $20 billion of investment, the Eagle, carrying Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin landed on the moon with the whole world watching in awe. In a mission of such great importance, the timepieces these men were wearing needed to be robust and extremely accurate. NASA chose the Omega Speedmaster for this task, and ever since this model has been part of all six lunar missions making it an icon for collectors and enthusiasts. The model offered here shares many characteristics with the original Moonwatch, however is a bit different as this one has a self winding movement instead of mechanical and has a sapphire crystal glass and case back “sapphire sandwich” instead of Plexi glass.
This gents stainless steel Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is presented on a stainless steel bracelet. At the heart of the rare 44.25mm case is an Omega 3313 calibre, self-winding co-axial chronograph movement. The black baton dial features three time registers with a black tachymetre bezel.
